AI & Intellectual Property Frequently Asked Questions
Do you use AI in your publishing process?
Yes — selectively and transparently. We use AI-assisted tools to support editorial development, illustration exploration, and production efficiency. These tools function as assistants, not authors.
Will my work be used to train AI models?
No. Author manuscripts, illustrations, and unpublished materials are never used to train AI models.
Could my story or characters appear in someone else’s AI-generated content?
No. AI tools do not store or retrieve individual works. They generate new content probabilistically, based on general patterns learned during training — not from your specific manuscript.
Ideas such as “a pig learning responsibility” are general storytelling tropes. Your specific characters, scenes, wording, and illustrations are not reusable or retrievable by an AI system.
Who owns the final work if AI tools are used?
The author. Use of AI-assisted tools does not change ownership, authorship, or rights. All final creative decisions are made by humans and approved by the author.
Can I opt out of AI use?
Yes. Authors can request limitations on AI-assisted workflows for specific aspects of production. We’ll discuss options and document any agreed limitations.
Why use AI at all?
Used responsibly, AI can:
- Speed up iteration
- Reduce production costs
- Expand creative exploration
- Improve accessibility
We use it where it helps — and avoid it where it doesn’t.
